Why do you need an art mentor

We have been running beginner adult classes since 2015 and learned about the most common mistakes amateur artists do when they draw portraits.

Let’s talk about eyes and pupils in particular. Compare the two illustrations. What differences can you spot?

A pupil on the left side looks brighter, “juicier” and more alive. Why? This is not an obvious difference, especially when you are used to drawing from photos only. Look at the pupil on the left side. The lower half of it is lighter – a small detail makes such a difference.

Very often beginners do not pay attention to this and often make one mistake over and over again. It is very important to find a mentor who will be checking on your progress and correcting when necessary. Look for an experienced artist or join our course.
